Amritsar, 24 May (H.S.): A

major accident took place on Sunday at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji

when shuttering plates from the roof of an under-construction langar hall

suddenly collapsed. Several women engaged in langar service came under the

debris. Two women died on the spot, while five others were reported seriously injured.

The injured were admitted to Sri Guru Ram Das Hospital for treatment.

Amandeep Kaur visited the hospital and reviewed the treatment arrangements. She

said all injured women are being treated by a team of doctors. Due to

overcrowding inside the hospital, people accompanying the injured were asked to

move outside to ensure smooth medical care.

According to

the Civil Defence Incharge of Division No. 1, langar service was underway when

the roof collapsed, trapping several women under the debris. With the help of

the sangat, the injured were immediately shifted to the hospital.

A woman injured

in the incident, who had come from Ajnala to pay obeisance, said panic broke

out suddenly after the collapse and she lost consciousness after falling. She

later learned that two women had died in the tragedy.
