
Nagaon (Assam), 24 May (HS): A shocking incident of alleged domestic violence has surfaced from Assam’s Nagaon district, where a nine-month pregnant woman was reportedly murdered by her husband following a dispute over ₹500. The incident took place near Kathiatoli.
The incident was occurred on Friday night but came to light on Sunday after the police report.The deceased has been identified as Yasmin Begum, a resident of the Akashiganga area. According to reports, Yasmin was travelling in an e-rickshaw with her husband, Azim Uddin, when an argument reportedly broke out between the couple. The verbal altercation allegedly turned violent, during which the accused is said to have pushed her from the vehicle and physically assaulted her.
Family members and local residents alleged that the dispute centred around a sum of ₹500. After the assault, Yasmin was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her husband had tried to cover by showing it as an road accident.
Following the incident, the accused husband reportedly fled the scene and remains absconding. The victims family members report the Police today. Police have launched a search operation to trace him and are investigating all aspects of the case.
The incident has triggered outrage among local residents, who have demanded strict action against the accused and justice for the victim. Authorities stated that evidence related to the case, including statements from family members and witnesses, is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.------------
