Hooghly, 24 May (H.S.): Kalyan Banerjee, MP from Serampore, visited Serampore Police Station on Sunday and accused the police of carrying out politically motivated action against leaders and councillors of the All India Trinamool Congress.
The Trinamool MP met the officer-in-charge of the police station and submitted a written complaint alleging that police action against TMC leaders had intensified after the vote-counting process.
According to Banerjee, several councillors were being implicated in false cases, arrested, and allegedly subjected to physical assault inside police stations.
He further claimed that TMC supporters were being attacked by workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party and alleged that the police administration was providing them protection.
However, no official response regarding the allegations has yet been issued by the police administration.
