Hooghly, 24 May (H.S.): Members of the Hooghly unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Purva Sainik Parishad held an important meeting on Sunday evening in the Lakkhi Pally area of Rishra to discuss several issues concerning ex-servicemen and their families.
During the meeting, participants deliberated on matters related to employment opportunities for former soldiers, pension-related problems faced by war widows, and the overall welfare of ex-servicemen in West Bengal.
Former serviceman and organisation president Manoj Banerjee said the organisation was formed with the objective of safeguarding the interests and dignity of retired defence personnel and their families.
He stated that the council has been actively working to help ex-servicemen secure jobs in the state and assist “Veer Naris” — widows of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation — in resolving pension and administrative issues.
Banerjee also announced that the organisation would soon launch a protest demanding justice in the murder case of former serviceman Chandranath Rath. He said the council would intensify its movement to ensure strict action against those responsible for the killing.
Speakers at the meeting stressed that soldiers who dedicated their lives to the service of the nation and their families deserve proper respect, security, and institutional support. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to continue working for the welfare of ex-servicemen across the state.
