New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): BSE Index Services has announced changes to four major benchmark indices as part of its semi-annual reconstitution exercise. The revisions in the BSE 100, BSE Sensex 50, BSE Sensex Next 50, and BSE Focused IT Index will come into effect from the start of trading on June 22.

Under the latest reshuffle, several companies have been added to these benchmark indices, while others have been removed based on their performance and market criteria.

According to BSE Index Services, the changes are part of the stock exchange’s regular semi-annual review process. BSE reviews its benchmark indices every six months and accordingly includes or excludes companies based on their market performance and eligibility.

As part of the revised composition of the BSE 100 Index, shares of Ashok Leyland, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, and One 97 Communications (Paytm) will be included. These companies will replace Ambuja Cements, Colgate-Palmolive India, and Tube Investments of India, which will consequently be removed from the index.

Similarly, changes have also been made to the BSE Sensex 50 Index. However, only one company has been replaced in this benchmark. TVS Motor Company has been added to the index, while Adani Enterprises has been excluded.

Interestingly, under the new restructuring, Adani Enterprises has moved out of the BSE Sensex 50 and entered the BSE Sensex Next 50 Index. In contrast, TVS Motor Company has moved from the BSE Sensex Next 50 into the BSE Sensex 50. Effectively, the two companies have swapped positions across the two indices.

In the sectoral indices segment, L&T Technology Services has been included in the BSE Focused IT Index, replacing Cyient. As a result, Cyient will cease to be a part of the BSE Focused IT Index after June 22.
