
Kolkata, 23 May(H.S.): A group of miscreants allegedly entered Kamala Chatterjee Girls High School in south Kolkata and carried out vandalism inside the campus in the early hours of Saturday, triggering concern among the school authorities.
According to school sources, the incident took place around 4:30 am in the area under the jurisdiction of Gariahat Police Station. The school authorities alleged that several youths scaled the main gate of the school and entered the premises before damaging property inside one of the buildings.
A written complaint was lodged with the police on Saturday morning, following which an investigation was initiated.
School authorities stated that the building targeted during the attack is not owned by the institution. The premises had been taken on rent for conducting primary and secondary classes. The vandals allegedly ransacked that particular section of the school.
CCTV cameras installed on the campus reportedly captured the entire incident. The footage allegedly shows a group of youths entering the school by climbing over the main gate and later carrying out vandalism inside the building.
Sources in the district school education department said that further steps would be discussed with the headmistress on Monday, following which necessary action regarding security and the investigation would be taken.
