New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday criticised the Central Government over the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices, accusing it of failing to address inflation and broader economic challenges.

In a statement, AAP’s Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj said that fuel prices have increased by nearly Rs 5 over the past 10 days. He alleged that one of the major reasons behind the weakening of the Indian economy is the government’s failure over the last decade to adequately promote sectors such as Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing.

According to Bharadwaj, the declining value of the rupee has led to rising prices of petrol, diesel, and other essential commodities, thereby increasing the financial burden on ordinary citizens.

He said the government needs to take concrete steps to restore public confidence, but instead, it is only contributing to rising inflation, which is causing severe hardship for the common people.

AAP leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia also criticised the Central Government over the increase in fuel prices. He said petrol and diesel prices have risen by nearly Rs 5 within the last 10 days and appealed to the Prime Minister to focus on the concerns of the public and take effective measures to control inflation.

Sisodia further alleged that investigative agencies are being used to suppress criticism of the government. He questioned how long the government would continue to avoid answering public concerns by using the powers of agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He added that if inflation continues to rise at the current pace, it would become increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens to manage their daily lives.
