
Mumbai, 23 May (HS): In a major crackdown on people illegally
living in India, Dombivali and Navi Mumbai police arrested 24 Nigerian
nationals, 14 men, six women and four children.

Jhende on Saturday told the media that based on intelligence information the
operation was carried out by Navi Mumbai and Thane police. A combing operation
was carried out in Downtown and Crown Palava buildings in Palava region. Out of
the 24 people arrested, eight were not in possession of legal documents
relating to stay in India.
Offence against nine among them related to drugs
smuggling were registered in different police stations. During the operation a
woman jumped from the fourth floor of the building and got injured. She has
been admitted to a hospital.
Verification of their documents was in progress. The
owners of the apartments have also been booked for helping them in their
illegal stay.
