21 May (HS): A 35-year-old man suspected of raping a 60-year-old lady in a
brick kiln in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district was injured in an encounter with
police, officials said on Thursday. Circle Officer Deepak Tiwari stated that
police were conducting vehicle checks at T-point in the Chandausi police
station area during wee hours when a motorbike rider approaching from the
Bahjoi side attempted to leave after noticing the police. He stated that the
suspect sped towards a connecting road and opened fire on the police unit while
being pursued.
The
culprit was brought to the Community Health Centre in Chandausi after being
shot in the right leg by police in retaliation, according to the officer. The
accused identified himself as Naseem (35), who is wanted in a rape case.
He
was found in possession of a country-made.315 bore handgun, one live cartridge,
one empty cartridge box, and an unnumbered motorbike, according to police. According
to authorities, Naseem is suspected of raping a 60-year-old lady residing in a
brick kiln on May 19. According to police, the accused reportedly sent the
woman's husband to get booze before perpetrating the crime. A case was filed
against him in response to the survivor's husband's allegation.
