New Delhi, May 21 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India’s motherland has always been a sacred land of spiritual practice and worship, as well as of courage, strength, and universal welfare. He expressed hope that this holy land, enriched by a glorious heritage and ancient culture, would always bless everyone with happiness and prosperity.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi shared a Sanskrit subhashita (classical verse) on X:

“यस्यां पूर्वे पूर्वजना विचक्रिरे यस्यां देवा असुरानभ्यवर्तयन् ।

गवामश्वानां वयसश्च विष्ठा भगं वर्चः पृथिवी नो दधातु ।।”

The verse means that the sacred land on which our ancestors performed great deeds, where the gods triumphed over evil forces, and which serves as a refuge for cows, horses, birds, and all living beings, may that Earth bless us with prosperity, fortune, brilliance, and well-being.

The Prime Minister said the verse reflects the greatness, prosperity, and divinity of the motherland. He added that this land has not only been a centre of spiritual pursuit but also a foundation of valour, strength, and the welfare of humanity.
