(HS): A paediatrician Dr Manoj Shirure from Latur has been arrested in
connection with the NEET paper leakage case. Dr Shirure is the first beneficiary
parent against whom action has been initiated. He purchased the question paper
for his son from Shivraj Motegaonkar, who was conducting private tuition
classes across the state.
Dr Shirur’s name
came to light during investigation by the CBI. A team of CBI was stationed at
Latur since Sunday conducting enquiry about those who purchased the leaked
papers. CBI interrogate Dr Shirur over four hours, seized some documents, his
mobile phone and some digital data. Preliminary investigation suggested his
relations with the accused Motegaonkar and P V Kulkarni.
Action against
more beneficiaries is likely to be initiated soon. The papers were sold for
hefty sumps ranging between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
CBI team also
conduction enquiry against two students from Ambejogai suspected to have
received the question papers. CBI is trying to unearth the entire network of
the racket.
