21 May (HS): Mystery shrouds death of 26-year-old married lady in Etah, with
her family reporting that her husband and in-laws attacked and hung her for
failing to give birth to a boy, police said on Thursday. According to the
authorities, the first investigation seemed to be a suicide case. The woman's
body was discovered on Thursday, whereas the event occurred on Wednesday in
Nagla Rupi hamlet, which is within the jurisdiction of the Awagarh police
station, they added. Kirti Devi is survived by her two daughters, who are 18
months and 2 months old. According to the victim's father, Viresh, Kriti's
in-laws allegedly tormented her for not having a male kid.
He
said that her spouse and other family members attacked her before hanging her
to death. Circle
Officer Jalesar Gyanendra Pratap Singh and a forensic team arrived at the scene
and began an inquiry after obtaining information about the occurrence. Police
said the body had been sent for a post-mortem examination. The actual cause of
death will be determined only once the post-mortem report is obtained. Further
inquiry is underway.
