
Nagpur, 21 May (HS):
The Vidarbha region in Maharashtra is reeling under severe heat wave with
Wardha recording 47.1 degree Celsius on Wednesday, followed by 46.6 degrees by
Nagpur and Brahmapuri (Chandrapur District).
The Indian Meteorology Department showed the
temperature in almost all the districts of the region above normal during the
period. . Wardha registered a departure of +3.8 degrees, while Nagpur
registered +3.1 degree above the average. Brahmapuri registered changes at +3.4
degrees.
Streets in several
cities of the region wore a deserted look during the day time from 11 am to
4.30 pm. Even coolers are blowing hot air to make realise the extreme heat to those
who remained confined inside their homes.
The temperatures in other districts in the Vidarbha region were
Amravati – 46.4, Chandrapur – 46.2, Gadchiroli – 45.6, Akola – 45.2, Bhandara –
44.6, Buldana – 41.0, Washim – 42.6, Gondia – 44.9 and Yavatmal – 45.2.
The head wave is forecast to continue up to May 25.
