New Delhi, May 21(HS): The Central Government has issued a special advisory for airports across the country in view of concerns surrounding the Ebola virus. The advisory states that immediate action must be taken if passengers arriving from affected countries display symptoms associated with Ebola infection.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, issued the advisory on Thursday for the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The advisory specifically cautioned travellers arriving from or transiting through high-risk countries, including Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, to exercise heightened vigilance.

According to the DGHS advisory, passengers showing symptoms such as fever, weakness or fatigue, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, or unexplained bleeding must immediately report to the Airport Health Officer or the designated health desk before immigration clearance.

The advisory further stated that passengers who may have had direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an Ebola patient should promptly inform health authorities. Such travellers have also been advised to self-monitor for 21 days after arrival and seek immediate medical attention if any symptoms develop during the monitoring period.
