
New Delhi, 20 May (H.S.): India will host the 68th session of the Governing Body of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), with the meeting scheduled to be held this week at Bharat Mandapam from May 20 to May 22. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will attend the inaugural session on May 21. The event will be hosted by India, and more than 60 senior representatives from 20 APO member countries are expected to participate.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the three-day programme will feature high-level discussions on the APO Vision 2030 framework, the preliminary budget for the 2027–28 biennium, and the review of the APO Secretary-General election process. During the 68th Governing Body meeting, productivity advocates and technical experts will also be honoured with APO National Awards.
Directors, advisors, representatives of diplomatic missions from APO member countries, and invited guests are also expected to attend the event. Observers from the governments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Bhutan, along with representatives from the Global Green Growth Institute, will also participate.
It is noteworthy that the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), established in 1961, is an intergovernmental body comprising 21 member countries from the Asia-Pacific region. Hosting the 68th session of its Governing Body reflects India’s continued commitment to promoting productivity-driven growth, innovation, and sustainable development in the region, in line with national priorities and global economic trends.
