Kolkata, 15 May (H.S.) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday announced in the Assembly that the proceedings of the state legislature will soon be live streamed to ensure greater transparency and public participation in the democratic process.
Addressing the House, the Chief Minister said that the proceedings inside the West Bengal Legislative Assembly would now be broadcast live, allowing people across the state to watch debates and discussions in real time.
Adhikari said the initiative aims to strengthen transparency in governance and enable citizens to directly assess the performance of their elected representatives. “People who have voted legislators to power have the right to see how their representatives function inside the House,” he said.
According to the Chief Minister, the live streaming arrangement will help voters evaluate whether their elected leaders are actively participating in Assembly proceedings and effectively raising public issues.
He further stated that the move is intended to make the functioning of the Assembly more accessible to the public and reinforce accountability in the legislative process.
