Silchar (Assam), 15 May (HS): In a major anti-narcotics operation, security personnel intercepted an auto rickshaw in Assam’s Cachar district and recovered a huge consignment of suspected Yaba tablets valued at nearly ₹3 crore.

According to information given by the Cachar SP on Friday, the auto rickshaw bearing registration number AS 11 CC 4449 was travelling from Kabuganj towards the Panibhora area when it was stopped and searched by the authorities. During the operation, officials recovered around 10,000 suspected Yaba tablets from the possession of the driver.

The accused has been identified as Hiramoni Choudhury, a resident of Haidor Bazar under Kachudaram Police Station. The seized contraband was immediately taken into custody for further legal procedures.

Officials stated that the recovered tablets were tested using a Drug Detection Kit (DDK) and the result confirmed the presence of suspected narcotic substances. Authorities estimate the market value of the seized consignment at approximately ₹3 crore.

Police have initiated necessary legal action in connection with the case, while further investigation is underway to trace the possible network linked to the smuggling operation.----------
