Bhubaneswar, 15 May (H.S.): Election Commission of India will launch the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Odisha from May 30, 2026, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) set to carry out door-to-door verification across the state till June 28 as part of the voter list revision exercise.

Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan said the final electoral roll will be published on September 6, 2026, after completion of verification, correction and grievance redressal procedures.

Addressing the media, Gopalan said July 1, 2026, has been fixed as the qualifying date for inclusion of eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 years. He informed that the revision activity will formally commence from May 20.

“From May 30 to June 28, BLOs will visit households and distribute enumeration forms. The forms will be collected after being duly filled,” he said.

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, following which a nearly month-long period will be provided for filing objections and claims. The final voter list will then be released on September 6, he added.

The CEO further stated that two copies of the enumeration form will be issued during the verification process. One signed copy will remain with the voter as proof, while the other will be submitted to the BLOs.

He said notices would be issued to individuals with minor discrepancies in their details, including incorrect dates of birth or errors in parents’ names. Such voters will be required to submit supporting documents, and all pending issues are expected to be resolved by September 2.

According to Gopalan, more than 9 lakh names have been deleted from the voter list over the past nine months due to migration and deaths.

“At present, Odisha has around 3.34 crore voters. Form 6 will be used for inclusion of new voters in the electoral roll,” he said.

On the issue of alleged inclusion of non-citizens in the voter list, Gopalan said that any person found ineligible or improperly enrolled would be removed from the electoral roll, irrespective of nationality.
