Mock Drill Conducted in Jorhat to Test Emergency Response During Air Attack Scenario

Jorhat (Assam), 15 May (HS): Panic briefly gripped the Nehru Park Chariali area in Jorhat after sirens suddenly went off and sounds resembling explosions echoed through the locality during a large-scale mock drill conducted last night.

The exercise was jointly organised by the Indian Air Force and the Civil Defence Department to simulate emergency conditions arising from a wartime aerial attack. The drill aimed to assess preparedness and coordination among various emergency response agencies in the event of an air strike.

As part of the exercise, emergency sirens were activated and rescue operations were demonstrated before the public. Medical teams, fire and emergency services and rescue personnel took part in the simulation to showcase how civilians would be evacuated and treated during a crisis situation.

Officials involved in the exercise said the mock drill was intended to create awareness among citizens and train different agencies to respond swiftly and effectively during war-like emergencies. The programme also focused on coordination between departments to minimise casualties and ensure rapid rescue operations in case of any real threat.-----------
