Bhubaneswar, 15 May (H.S.): Odisha Vigilance on Friday has arrested Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Junior Engineer (JE) of the Command Area Development (CAD) Division, Bhadrak, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. He will be produced today before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
Notably, Vigilance teams had conducted simultaneous raids on properties linked to Mohanty on Thursday. During the searches, officials unearthed huge movable and immovable assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The assets detected during the raids include two multi-storeyed buildings, seven valuable plots, cash worth Rs 1.73 lakh, around 350 grams of gold, deposits amounting to Rs 19.46 lakh, and other valuables. Mohanty reportedly failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the source of these assets.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 6/2026 has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018. Further investigation into the case is underway.
