Nagaon (Assam), 15 May (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will be held in July, during which a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s development over the next five years will be prepared.

Speaking during his visit to Batadrava after assuming charge as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term, Sarma said the government would make every effort to reflect public suggestions and aspirations in the upcoming budget. He stated that the administration remains accountable to the people of Assam and is committed to fulfilling their expectations.

The Chief Minister also offered prayers at the historic Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Vaishnavite saint and social reformer Srimanta Sankardev. During his interaction with devotees and members of the satra management, Sarma reiterated the government’s commitment towards protecting and restoring encroached satras across the state.

He said the Satra Aayog would continue its efforts to recover encroached satra lands and assured that he would remain in constant touch with the commission regarding the matter.

Highlighting the BJP-led alliance’s massive electoral mandate, the Chief Minister said the government was formed with the support of 102 seats, adding that such a strong mandate has also increased the government’s responsibility towards the people.

“People of Assam have high hopes and expectations from us and we are fully committed to serving them responsibly,” the Chief Minister added.----------
