Economic

discipline towards self-reliance, need of the hour: Minister Yogendra Upadhyay

Lucknow,

15 May (HS): Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education in the Uttar

Pradesh government, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call is aimed at

enhancing the national interest and the country's economic strength. He urged

avoiding all actions that unnecessarily result in excessive foreign exchange

expenditure.

Citing

examples, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that restraint is necessary in areas

such as unnecessary fuel expenditure, excessive gold purchases, and high

imports of edible oils, of which approximately 55 percent comes from abroad. He

said that moving towards self-reliance on these issues is the need of the hour

and will strengthen the country's economy.

He

also stated that he has personally resolved to limit his official convoy to

only one vehicle, eliminating all other vehicles. He stated that this decision

was made in the national interest, in accordance with the Prime Minister's

call, and that he will continue to adhere to this policy.

Minister

Yogendra Upadhyay also appealed to the general public to avoid actions that

result in unnecessary expenditure of foreign currency, as foreign currency

strengthens any country's economy. Referring to the global situation, he said

that international developments such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Iran-US

tensions have an indirect impact on the economies of all countries, so

vigilance is essential.

The

Higher Education Minister said that in the spirit of prevention is better

than cure, we must remain vigilant and practice economic discipline. He

said that under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the state and the country

are steadily moving forward towards self-reliance and economic strength.
