15 May (HS): Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education in the Uttar
Pradesh government, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call is aimed at
enhancing the national interest and the country's economic strength. He urged
avoiding all actions that unnecessarily result in excessive foreign exchange
expenditure.
Citing
examples, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that restraint is necessary in areas
such as unnecessary fuel expenditure, excessive gold purchases, and high
imports of edible oils, of which approximately 55 percent comes from abroad. He
said that moving towards self-reliance on these issues is the need of the hour
and will strengthen the country's economy.
He
also stated that he has personally resolved to limit his official convoy to
only one vehicle, eliminating all other vehicles. He stated that this decision
was made in the national interest, in accordance with the Prime Minister's
call, and that he will continue to adhere to this policy.
Minister
Yogendra Upadhyay also appealed to the general public to avoid actions that
result in unnecessary expenditure of foreign currency, as foreign currency
strengthens any country's economy. Referring to the global situation, he said
that international developments such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Iran-US
tensions have an indirect impact on the economies of all countries, so
vigilance is essential.
The
Higher Education Minister said that in the spirit of prevention is better
than cure, we must remain vigilant and practice economic discipline. He
said that under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the state and the country
are steadily moving forward towards self-reliance and economic strength.
