New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.):
The Youth Congress staged demonstrations against the government over the alleged NEET paper‑leak case, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Police controlled the protesters outside the Youth Congress headquarters in New Delhi by erecting barricades.
During the protest, Delhi Youth Congress president Akshay Lakra said the central government has failed to prevent recurring paper leaks in the country. He alleged that incidents of paper leaks have continued since the National Testing Agency (NTA) was formed and noted that courts have also taken cognizance of the matter. He contended that earlier universities and state governments conducted exams, but under the BJP government the NTA has become a corrupt system that is jeopardising the future of poor students.
Akshay Lakra further stated that names of individuals who themselves run coaching centres have emerged in connection with the NEET paper leak. He questioned the integrity of the examination system, claiming that over the past ten years there have been 89 paper‑leak incidents, including four NEET leaks and 48 instances requiring retests, yet none of the accused have received stringent punishment. He said these events raise serious questions about the education system.
Present at the protest were Indian Youth Congress national secretary and Delhi co‑in‑charge Havran Kansana, and national secretary Ehsan Ahmed.
