
New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.): Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhromzhon Joraboyevich Aloyev of Uzbekistan, Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Kazem Gharibabadi of Iran, First Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashykbayev of Kazakhstan, and Permanent Secretary Dunoma Umar Ahmad of Nigeria arrived in Delhi on Wednesday to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled for 14–15 May.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced the arrivals at separate ex‑post briefings. He said Secretary (West) Siby George held discussions with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Kazem Gharibabadi on bilateral and regional matters. The arrivals of the officials from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Nigeria were also welcomed.
Notably, these leaders have come to India to participate in the two‑day BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi on 14–15 May, which will be chaired by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
Foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia and South Africa, along with ministers from Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia, will attend, while China will be represented by its Sherpa delegation.
During the meeting, BRICS foreign ministers will exchange views on global and regional issues of mutual interest. Under the programme, on 14 May at 1:00 pm there will be a joint meeting of all foreign ministers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Seva Teerth. The second session will commence at 3:10 pm, followed by a dinner hosted by Dr. Jaishankar at India Mandapam at 7:00 pm. The third session will begin at 10:00 am on 15 May.
