New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.):

Continuing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote fuel conservation and environmental awareness, Jamal Siddiqui, national president of the BJP Minority Front, has resolved to limit his use of petrol and diesel and will begin commuting to the party’s central headquarters by bicycle from Thursday. The initiative is intended to encourage ordinary citizens to conserve energy and to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Speaking to the media, Siddiqui said that saving fuel is not merely an economic issue but a significant measure for the nation’s energy security and for advancing a cleaner environment. He appealed to the public to adopt cycling, walking or public transport in their daily lives wherever feasible, and thereby contribute to energy conservation.

Faisal Mumtaz, the front’s national media in‑charge, said that Siddiqui previously travelled with three vehicles carrying his security personnel, aides and associates; going forward, those security staff, aides and associates will accompany him by bicycle.

Siddiqui’s move, Mumtaz added, is meant to spread the message of energy conservation widely and to foster positive environmental awareness in society.
