New Delhi, 12 May (H.S.): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has lashed out at the central government over the cancellation of the NEET‑UG 2026 examination, saying the system of corruption has crushed the hard work, sacrifice, and dreams of more than 22 lakh students. He accused the government of negligence, paper‑leak scandals, and organised corruption in education, which he said has put the future of the youth at risk.

In an X post, Rahul Gandhi wrote that some fathers took loans, some mothers sold their jewellery, and countless children studied night after night, but in return they have been given only paper‑leaks and corruption. “This is not just a failure; it is a crime against the future of the youth,” he said.

He added that the “paper mafia” keeps escaping every time while honest students are left to suffer, and now millions of aspirants will again face mental stress, financial burden, and uncertainty. “If education is decided by money and influence rather than by hard work, then what value will education have?” he asked.

It is noteworthy that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET‑UG 2026 exam and decided to conduct it again, citing alleged irregularities and inputs received from investigative agencies. The central government has also entrusted the entire case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The NTA said the examination has been cancelled and will be re‑held to maintain transparency and fairness, and the fresh exam date and schedule for re‑issuing admit cards will be announced shortly.
