Guwahati, 12 May 12 (HS): A total of five MLAs, including Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, will take oath of office and secrecy in Assam on Tuesday. The information was shared by Dr. Sarma himself through a post on X ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.
According to Dr. Sarma, four other leaders — Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Bodo and Ajanta Neog — will also be sworn in as ministers in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Among them, two are BJP legislators, while one each represents AGP and BPF.
Dr. Sarma further stated that MLA Ranjeet Das would be the candidate for the post of Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly. Extending his best wishes to all members of the new team, he said they would continue working with full dedication towards building a stronger, more developed and prosperous Assam.
Preparations for the grand oath-taking ceremony have been carried out on a massive scale at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, chief ministers from 22 states, several Union ministers, senior BJP and NDA leaders, along with prominent industrialists, are expected to attend the event.
Most of the top leaders, including the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, had arrived in Guwahati by Monday night. BJP and NDA booth presidents and elected panchayat representatives from across Assam have also been invited to the ceremony.
In view of the arrival of VVIPs, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across the Khanapara area. Traffic diversions have been imposed on several routes, while extensive beautification, road cleaning and repainting works have been undertaken from Kamakhya Temple to Khanapara and from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to the event venue.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will take oath at 11 am at a grand ceremony at Khanapara Veterinary College Ground, where massive pandals have been constructed and multi-layered security arrangements deployed for the smooth conduct of the programme.-----------
