New Delhi, 12 May (H.S.): On the occasion of National Technology Day, 13 indigenous technologies developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–Central Building Research Institute (CSIR‑CBRI), Roorkee, were transferred to industries and start‑ups during a special programme held here today.

The technologies transferred relate to fire safety, sustainable construction, energy efficiency, and infrastructure protection.

According to the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, during the event held at the CSIR headquarters in New Delhi, Dr Ajay Chaurasia, Chief Scientist at CSIR‑Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, said that industry‑oriented technology transfer would accelerate innovation‑driven development in the country.

CSIR‑CBRI Director Professor R. Pradeep Kumar stated that the event held on National Technology Day carries special significance and that the transfer of indigenous technologies to industries represents an important step towards strengthening India’s research ecosystem and advancing the goal of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The programme witnessed the transfer of technologies such as fire‑retardant transparent coating for wood and its alternatives, IPN‑based coating technology for the protection of RCC structures, low‑carbon brick manufacturing technology, hybrid solar‑assisted heat pump systems, and prefabricated high‑strength steel cord technology for wall protection. These technologies have been handed over to various industries and start‑ups so that they can be implemented at a commercial scale.

On this occasion, a video based on the “CSIR Smart Village Initiative” was also released, highlighting CSIR’s contributions to rural development and sustainable technologies. The CSIR‑CBRI Annual Report 2025‑26 was also released during the event.
