Mumbai, 10 May (H.S.): Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule narrowly escaped in a road accident late on Saturday night on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. Her car was struck from behind by another fast‑moving vehicle on the highway, causing a strong side‑on collision. The impact left only minor damage to the vehicle, and Sule and all occupants inside emerged completely unhurt.

Sule, who represents Baramati in the Lok Sabha, told reporters that she was travelling from Pune to Mumbai when the incident occurred. She identified the offending vehicle by its registration number, GJ 13 CF 5257, saying it had struck her car from the side while travelling at high speed. She added that, fortunately, none of the passengers suffered any injuries and that everyone remained safe after the crash.

In a statement issued after the accident, Sule warned that driving at high speed and in a careless manner could put people’s lives at grave risk. She urged citizens to always use seat belts, exercise caution on the road, and drive responsibly.

“Speed and recklessness endanger lives,” she said, calling for greater awareness and discipline among motorists using expressways and national highways.

Sule, a senior leader of the NCP (Sharad Pawar) and a prominent Baramati‑based MP, has frequently highlighted road‑safety issues and infrastructure bottlenecks in Maharashtra, including congestion on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway.
