Thiruvananthapuam, 10 May (H.S.):Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is set to captivate radio audiences once again as part of Akashvani’s prestigious “Akhila Kerala Radio Drama Festival”, lending his voice to two major audio dramas that are expected to generate significant excitement among listeners across the state.
The actor has voiced key roles in the radio dramas Daivathinte Manamaru Kandu and Kadankathayile Virunnukaran, both of which will be broadcast this month through All India Radio stations in Kerala.
The first drama, Daivathinte Manamaru Kandu, produced by the Thiruvananthapuram station of Akashvani, will be aired on May 11 at 9.30 p.m. Written by Jayaraj Mithra and directed by Ruby Babu, the production features an ensemble cast that includes noted actors M.R. Gopakumar, Bhagyalakshmi, Sandhya Rajendran, Nandu and Sajan Surya alongside Mohanlal.
The second production, Kadankathayile Virunnukaran, produced by the Kochi station, is scheduled for broadcast on May 17 at 9.30 p.m., with a repeat telecast on May 18 at 1 p.m. The drama has been jointly directed by M.V. Sashikumar and N.S. Jayamohan, while the script has been penned by Mohammed Roshan. Music composer Kailas Menon has handled the background sound design for the production.
One of the notable highlights of Kadankathayile Virunnukaran is that Mohanlal is the only male character in the drama, adding a unique dimension to the audio presentation. Prominent actresses including Mala Parvathy, Shivada, Muthumani and Aditi Ravi have also lent their voices to the production.
The announcement of Mohanlal’s participation has generated considerable enthusiasm among radio drama enthusiasts and longtime admirers of the actor, especially at a time when audio storytelling is witnessing renewed popularity through digital and traditional platforms alike.
This is not the first time Mohanlal has collaborated with Akashvani for radio dramas. The actor had earlier contributed his voice to acclaimed productions such as Jeevanulla Prathimakal and Kathukal Katha Parayunnu, both of which had received appreciation from listeners.
With two new productions featuring the celebrated actor, this year’s Akashvani radio drama festival is expected to draw significant attention from audiences across Kerala.
