Melbourne, 01 May (H.S.): Simon Helmot, the head coach of the Melbourne Renegades, has decided to leave the club after a five-year tenure. The 54-year-old Helmot now seeks new opportunities.

Helmot assumed leadership of the team in 2021 and guided them to runners-up position in his debut season. His most significant achievement, however, was securing the team's first title in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) during its 10th season, where his strategy alongside captain Sophie Molineux played a pivotal role.

Currently, Helmot serves as assistant coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad in India, working with head coach Daniel Vettori and captain Pat Cummins. His association with the Renegades dates back to the inception of the Big Bash League, where he also served as the inaugural coach of the men's team for four years.

During Helmot's tenure, the team's performance included: WBBL 07 runners-up, WBBL 08 seventh place, WBBL 09 eighth place, WBBL 10 champions, and WBBL 11 fifth place.

Renegades general manager James Rosengarten stated that Helmot elevated the club to new heights, leaving a profound impact both on the field and within the team environment. He added that Helmot's connections with players, staff, and fans would be cherished forever.

Helmot's departure increases the number of vacant head coach positions in the Big Bash League. Prior to this, the men's teams of Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers were also seeking new coaches.
