Prayagraj, 01 May
(HS): On Friday, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a plea seeking the
registration of a FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over a supposed
provocative comment in 2025. Justice Vikram D Chauhan issued the ruling after
hearing a plea brought by Simran Gupta of the right-wing Hindu Shakti Dal.
Gupta appealed a
Sambhal court's decision to deny her request for directives to file a FIR
against Gandhi, the Lok Sabha's Leader of the Opposition. The petitioner
claimed that Gandhi remarked during the inauguration of the All India Congress
Committee office in 2025 that we are now battling the BJP, RSS, and the Indian
state itself. The petitioner claimed that the comment wounded public
sensibilities and constituted a seditious and anti-national declaration
designed to undermine the country. Justice Chauhan reserved the ruling on April
8 after deliberating with the petitioner's and the state government's lawyers.
