Tehran, 01 May (H.S.): On Friday, Iranian state media confirmed that the Islamic Republic transmitted its most recent negotiating framework to Pakistan late Thursday, positioning Islamabad as the conduit for renewed discussions with the United States amid a fragile ceasefire in the ongoing regional conflict.

This development emerges against the backdrop of heightened tensions, where Iran continues to enforce restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz—a vital artery for one-fifth of global oil shipments—while the U.S. Navy upholds a counter-blockade on Iranian oil exports.

The proposal's specifics remain undisclosed by official outlets like IRNA, but prior iterations relayed through Pakistan have emphasized a phased approach: immediate restoration of maritime access, extension of the truce initially declared in early April, and deferral of contentious nuclear deliberations to subsequent rounds.

The Trump administration, facing a congressional deadline under the War Powers Resolution, maintains that the ceasefire effectively halts the 60-day clock for formal authorization, thereby sidestepping immediate legislative hurdles.

U.S. officials have acknowledged receipt of the overture but offered no commitment to engagement, as global markets grapple with elevated energy costs and supply chain disruptions exacerbated by the standoff.
