New Delhi, 01 May (H.S.): State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have announced a steep hike in LPG cylinder prices. This increase applies exclusively to commercial cylinders, specifically the 19-kg variant.
Effective from this morning, commercial cylinder prices have risen by approximately ₹1,000. Domestic 14.2-kg cylinders remain unaffected, providing relief to households. In the national capital Delhi, the price has increased by ₹993; similar hikes include ₹993 in Mumbai, ₹990.50 in Chennai, and ₹994 in Kolkata.
According to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), post-hike, the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs ₹3,071.50 in Delhi, up from ₹2,078.50. In Kolkata, it has risen from ₹2,208 to ₹3,202; Mumbai from ₹2,031 to ₹3,024; and Chennai from ₹2,246.50 to ₹3,237.
Notably, prices of commercial LPG cylinders—used in hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and other commercial establishments—have increased for the sixth time in the past five months. The previous hike on April 1 was up to ₹218, with two increases in March: ₹28 on March 1 and ₹114.50 on March 7. February saw a ₹49 rise, and January a ₹111 increase, while December 2025 witnessed a reduction.
Domestic 14.2-kg LPG cylinders for household use have seen no change once again. The last adjustment was a ₹60 hike on March 7, 2026. Currently, non-subsidized rates stand at ₹913 in Delhi, ₹912.50 in Mumbai, ₹939 in Kolkata, and ₹928.50 in Chennai, per IOC.
To curb black-marketing of domestic LPG cylinders, the delivery authentication code system has been further tightened effective today. Cylinders will be delivered only upon presentation of the OTP sent to the registered mobile number; no OTP means no delivery. Consumers without an updated mobile number at the gas agency can update it in real-time via the gas delivery app.
