Double Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu advanced to the second round of the Badminton Asia Championships 2026 with a gritty comeback victory on Wednesday.

Returning after nearly two months, Sindhu overcame Malaysia's world No. 38 Wong Ling Ching 15-21, 21-11, 21-19 in a 67-minute thriller. She'll next face second seed Wang Zhi Yi of China.

Ayush Shetty stunned world No. 7 and defending bronze medallist Lee Shifeng of China 21-13, 21-16 in 51 minutes, setting up a pre-quarterfinal clash with Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.

Lakshya Sen suffered a straight-games defeat to Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu (12-21, 19-21). Malvika Bansod lost to Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan (10-21, 19-21), and Tanvi Sharma fell to Malaysia's K. Letshana (19-21, 14-21).
