Kathmandu, 07 April (H.S.):

The Nepal government has decided to recall ambassadors appointed on political grounds to six countries, including India, following approval in a recent Cabinet meeting.

This move upholds the tradition of recalling envoys appointed during the previous administration after a change in government.

Among those recalled are Dr.

Shankar Prasad Sharma (Nepal's Ambassador to India), Chitralekha Yadav (Australia), Dr. Shivmaya Tumbahangphe (South Korea), Dr. Purna Bahadur Nepali (Sri Lanka), Sumнима Tuladhar (Denmark), and Kapil Shrestha (South Africa).

The Foreign Ministry has granted the recalled ambassadors one month to return to Nepal, effectively ending their remaining terms. The government plans to initiate appointments for these vacant diplomatic posts soon, with parliamentary hearing committees required to vet nominees before agrément requests are sent to host countries.
