New Delhi, 30 April (H.S.):
Domestic stock markets will operate only four days this week. Markets remain closed tomorrow, May 1, for Maharashtra Day. Consequently, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) suspend trading Friday. Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) halts morning session (9 AM to 5 PM) due to Maharashtra Day holiday. However, MCX conducts normal trading in evening session from 5 PM to 11:30/11:55 PM.
Per stock exchanges, Maharashtra Day holiday suspends BSE trading across equity segment, equity derivatives segment, currency derivatives segments, New Debt Segment-Reporting, Settlement and Trading Platform (NDS-RST), Tri Party Repo, Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR), and commodity derivatives segment.
Similarly, NSE suspends equities, equity derivatives, corporate bonds, new debt segments, negotiated trade reporting platform, mutual funds, security lending and borrowing schemes, currency derivatives, commodity derivatives, and interest rate derivatives—all segments remain closed.
Stock market holiday calendar lists May 28 (Bakri Id) closure besides May 1. June features single holiday June 26 (Muharram). July and August observe only weekly holidays. September 14 marks Ganesh Chaturthi holiday.
October sees closures October 2 (Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti) and October 20 (Dussehra). November 10 (Bali Pratipada) and November 24 (Guru Nanak Jayanti) follow. December 25 (Christmas) closes markets.
Independence Day falls on Saturday August 15; Diwali November 8 coincides with Sunday—neither listed as holidays. Diwali Sunday hosts Muhurat Trading, timing announced later.
