Mumbai, 30 April (H.S.): In a breathtaking high-scoring thriller at Wankhede Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a sensational 6-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI), successfully chasing down a daunting target of 244 runs in just 18.4 overs.
Batting first, the Mumbai Indians posted a formidable 243/5 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Ryan Rickelton, who delivered a magnificent unbeaten century, scoring 123 runs. He was well-supported by Will Jacks, who contributed 46 runs, and captain Hardik Pandya, who added 31 to the total.
For the Sunrisers, Prafull Hinge emerged as the standout bowler with 2 wickets, while Ishan Malinga, Sakib Hussain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy claimed one wicket each. Captain Pat Cummins went wicketless in a challenging outing for the bowling unit.
Facing a monumental target, Hyderabad launched an explosive response. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma dismantled the Mumbai bowling attack during the powerplay; Head smashed a blistering 76 off just 30 balls, while Abhishek provided a solid foundation with his 45-run contribution.
In the middle order, Heinrich Klaasen maintained the momentum, playing a match-winning, unbeaten knock of 65. His rapid scoring shifted the tide firmly in Hyderabad's favor, leaving the Mumbai bowlers with no answer as the target was systematically dismantled.
With this defeat, the Mumbai Indians have now suffered their sixth loss of the season, marking their fourth consecutive disappointment at Wankhede Stadium. This clash will be remembered as one of the most remarkable run-chases in IPL history, reinforcing a new standard for aggressive batting in T20 cricket where even a target exceeding 240 runs proved insufficient.
