Bhubaneswar, 03 April (H.S.): Odisha is grappling with intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring across several districts, particularly in the western region of the state. Several areas have recorded temperatures above 40°C, highlighting the severity of the ongoing heatwave.

Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest location in Odisha, registering a maximum temperature of 40.6°C. Other major hot spots include Titlagarh at 40°C, and Hirakud and Sonepur at 39.2°C each. Angul recorded 39.1°C, while Bhadrak and Bolangir reported 39°C. Most other cities across the state experienced temperatures above 38°C, indicating widespread heatwave conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for districts including Nuapada, Titlagarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Rourkela, where temperatures are expected to range between 40°C and 42°C in the coming days.

Hot and humid conditions persist across interior Odisha, increasing discomfort for residents, while coastal regions continue to experience relatively milder weather, creating a noticeable temperature divide across the state.

Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun as the heatwave is expected to persist in the western districts.
