Lucknow, April 29 (HS): Prime
Minister Narendra Modi will open the 594-kilometer Ganga Expressway on
Wednesday. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also attended
the event. The Ganga Expressway is Uttar Pradesh's longest expressway and one
of India's largest greenfield road projects, costing about Rs 36,230 crore to
build. The six-lane access-controlled corridor, which may be expanded to eight
lanes, connects Meerut and Prayagraj spanning twelve districts. It also has a
far bigger ambition: to serve as an industrial, logistical, and development
corridor, rather than merely a route.
For Uttar Pradesh, this is more than just a transportation milestone. It serves
as a test example for how infrastructure may simultaneously fuel industry,
logistics, real estate, agriculture, and tourism.
In a post on X, UP CM remarked, “Uttar
Pradesh's development journey will gain new momentum today from Hardoi, the
place of penance of devotee Prahlad. The 594-kilometer-long, 6-lane (expandable
to 8-lane) Ganga Expressway will be inaugurated by Respected Prime Minister
Shri @narendramodi Narendra Modi. This expressway will prove to be a milestone
in the development of world-class infrastructure in the country. This
lifeline, connecting villages, farmers, enterprises, and youth,
will free opportunities from distance and accelerate development. Hearty
congratulations to the Prime Minister and congratulations to the people of the
state.”
