Bhubaneswar, 29 April (H.S.): In view of the special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly scheduled for Thursday, the Commissionerate Police have significantly enhanced security arrangements across the Assembly premises and adjoining areas to ensure a peaceful and incident-free conduct of proceedings.
Twin City Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh personally reviewed the preparedness and detailed deployment plan on Wednesday.
A comprehensive three-tier security arrangement has been put in place around the Assembly complex. As part of the deployment, 30 police platoons and around 100 senior officers will be stationed to maintain law and order. In addition, specialized units including the Quick Response Teams (QRTs), striking force, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire services have been kept on standby.
According to the Police Commissioner, a total of 11 QRTs have been deployed, with 7 positioned inside the Assembly premises and 4 stationed in surrounding areas to ensure rapid response capability.
To strengthen perimeter security, extensive barricading will be installed around the Assembly and nearby zones before the session begins. A temporary police camp has also been set up in the vicinity to facilitate continuous monitoring and quick coordination.
CCTV surveillance systems have been activated across the Assembly and surrounding areas, enabling real-time monitoring by senior police officials throughout the duration of the session.
As an additional preventive measure, the administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the Lower PMG area to prohibit unauthorized gatherings and ensure public order during the high-security event.
Officials stated that all arrangements have been finalized to ensure the smooth functioning of the special Assembly session without any disruption.
