Nadia, 29 April (H.S.): Tensions were reported on the morning of polling during the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on Wednesday.

In Nadia district’s Chapra area, a BJP polling agent was allegedly attacked before voting began. The injured worker was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to allegations, the incident took place near Booth No. 53 when the agent was on his way to the polling station. He was reportedly chased and assaulted with sticks, sustaining a head injury. Allegations have been levelled against workers of the Trinamool Congress.

The injured agent, identified as Mosharaf Mir, claimed, “We were on our way with polling agents when a group chased us with sticks and attacked us. Five of us were injured. I have been brought to the hospital, but I am not aware of the others’ whereabouts.”
