New Delhi, 26 April (H.S.): Sampurna organised a training workshop on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act in the national capital, with a focus on strengthening awareness and effective implementation of the law.
Ten selected members participated in the workshop and are being trained as professional volunteers to promote and implement the POSH Act in its true spirit. The initiative aims to build a team of trained and committed individuals within Sampurna who can contribute actively towards awareness and enforcement, addressing gaps caused by limited understanding and training.
The workshop was chaired by Dr. Shobha Vijender, Founder President of Sampurna and a social worker associated with women’s empowerment initiatives. In her address, she provided a detailed overview of the POSH Act, covering its background, significance and practical aspects of implementation. She emphasised that meaningful empowerment of working women requires proper and complete implementation of the Act.
During the first session, key provisions of the law were discussed, including its background and necessity, the role of NGOs in awareness generation, responsibilities of Internal Committees (IC) and Local Committees (LC), and the handling of cases with sensitivity and professionalism. The session also included discussions on real-life case scenarios, supported by a live presentation.
Participants engaged actively in the interactive session, sharing perspectives and experiences. They expressed satisfaction with the training and noted that it enhanced their understanding and confidence to work in the field of POSH awareness and implementation.
Tea and refreshments were served at the conclusion of the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by Nikhil, Coordinator, who acknowledged the leadership of Dr. Vijender and the participation of attendees.
The next workshop is scheduled to be held on May 16, 2026.
