
New Delhi, 26 April (H.S.): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the main accused in the bomb explosion case that occurred in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal in March this year. In the blast, one person was killed and three others were seriously injured, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Identity and role of the accused
The agency has identified the arrested person as Ahidul Islam Mulla, a resident of the Bijoynagar Bazar area in the district. According to the NIA, he was a co‑accused in the conspiracy and actively involved in manufacturing bombs and destroying evidence. Investigators say the blast took place while explosives were being prepared, killing one of the conspirators on the spot.
Earlier arrest and ongoing probe
An earlier accused in the case has already been arrested by the West Bengal State Police. The NIA has since taken over the investigation, conducting a detailed probe that led to the identification and apprehension of Mulla.
The incident occurred in Dakshin Bamonuya village in South 24 Parganas, triggering widespread panic in the area. The agency has registered the case as RC‑09/2026/NIA/DLI and said the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities are now examining the role of other possible suspects and checking for any wider network linked to the plot.
