Mumbai, 25 April (H.S.):
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged regulated entities in the financial sector to remain exceptionally vigilant against cybersecurity risks on Saturday.
Addressing SEBI's 38th Foundation Day event in Mumbai, Sitharaman virtually launched the regulator's nationwide investor awareness initiative 'Mission Jagruti'. She emphasized that even a single cyberattack on a stock exchange or depository could disrupt economic activities and erode public trust.
The emergence of AI-powered advanced tools has heightened the risk of automated cyberattacks, making cybersecurity even more critical. Not just SEBI, but all regulated entities must stay highly alert. Attack methods are evolving rapidly, and defensive measures must evolve even faster, she stated.
