New Delhi, 25 April (H.S.):
Residents of Delhi-NCR can expect no respite from the scorching heat and heatwaves on Sunday either. Hot winds from the west have pushed Delhi's temperature up to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Relief from the heat is anticipated in Delhi-NCR on Monday, with partly cloudy skies and forecasts of light rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours, predicting partly cloudy conditions and heatwaves at isolated places.
Saturday's maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 42-44 degrees Celsius. Winds from the northwest at 15 km/h are expected at night. On April 26, partly cloudy skies are forecast for Delhi-NCR, with maximum temperatures of 41-43 degrees Celsius and minimums of 25-27 degrees Celsius—minimums potentially above normal at several spots. Wind speeds may reach 25 km/h in the afternoon and 15 km/h in the evening.
Further relief from the heat is expected on April 27 in Delhi, with partly cloudy conditions and light rain. Daytime winds could gust at 30-40 km/h, while minimum temperatures may exceed normal in places. Maximum temperatures across most areas are likely to remain above normal.
The weather department has warned of heatwaves over the next three days in Delhi-NCR, northwest, and central India. Heavy rain is possible at isolated spots in West Bengal, Sikkim, and northeast India this week. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are likely in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad between April 25-28.
