New Delhi, 23 April (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said on Thursday that the Jain community has played a consistently significant role in India’s economy, education, and philanthropy. He made these remarks through a video address at a special seminar organised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, by the National Commission for Minorities (NCM).

The seminar, held in Indore, was themed “The contribution of the Jain community to the Indian economy, education, and philanthropy.” Academicians, social‑workers, and community leaders highlighted the community’s long‑standing contributions to nation‑building, especially in setting up educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and welfare‑oriented initiatives.

Rijiju described the Jain community’s spirit of selfless service as a source of inspiration for the entire country. He noted that the community has been running hospitals, dharmashalas, gaushalas, and community kitchens that provide compassionate, no‑cost assistance to people across social and economic backgrounds. He added that Jain entrepreneurs have historically played a leading role in strengthening India’s economic foundation through trade, industry, and job creation, and expressed confidence that the community will continue to make a significant contribution to realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047.
