Domestic equities opened with modest gains before buyers propelled a sharp rally, lifting benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty amid robust buying momentum.
By 10 AM, the BSE Sensex had advanced 0.63%, trading at 79,012.57—up 492.27 points from its 78,520.30 close the previous day. The NSE Nifty mirrored the upswing, rising 0.56% or 136.30 points to 24,501.15 after dipping briefly to 24,354.90 post a 9.70-point opening at 24,374.55.
Nestle India, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, and Tata Consumer Products led Sensex gainers, up 0.72-1.68%. Conversely, SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Life, Dr. Reddy's Labs, Infosys, and Jio Financial slipped 0.50-3.19%.
Active trading spanned 2,717 stocks, with 2,169 in green versus 548 in red. Of 30 Sensex components, 27 advanced; Nifty's 50 saw 42 gainers against 8 decliners.
Monday's session had seen Sensex edge up 0.03% (26.27 points) to 78,520.30, Nifty 0.05% (11.30 points) to 24,364.85—setting a bullish tone sustained by steady inflows despite intermittent profit-taking.
