Beirut, 21 April (H.S.):
Despite a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon, reports have emerged of Israeli attacks on southern regions, reigniting tensions in the area.
According to the National News Agency (NNA), several towns were targeted in the past few hours. A drone strike hit near the Litani River in the town of Kaakaiyat al-Jisr. Bombing also occurred in the Shama town of the Tyre district, while the Tayyiba town in the Marjayoun area was similarly struck.
Attacks were also reported between Al-Qusayr and Al-Qantara. No official casualties have been confirmed from these incidents yet.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, aerial strikes have claimed civilian lives. In the early hours around 3:30 a.m., an attack in the Sohmor town killed a woman and her two children.
The blast's intensity was so severe that the bodies were flung far from the site. The children's father is reportedly in critical condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.
Local reports indicate heavy damage from strikes in the Mashghara area as well. These ongoing incidents have raised serious questions about the ceasefire's effectiveness and credibility.
Israel has yet to issue any official response regarding the attacks. Meanwhile, calls are intensifying from the international community to de-escalate the situation and ensure compliance with the truce.
