The Orange Cap and Purple Cap races in IPL 2026 took an exciting turn after Sunday’s two matches, with several standout performances reshaping the leaderboard and adding fresh intrigue to the season.

Prince Yadav produced a fine spell of bowling for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings, finishing with impressive figures of 2 for 25. Although the match produced a run-heavy total of 454 runs, Yadav remained economical and made his presence felt.

With this performance, Yadav has now taken 11 wickets this season and moved into the top three in the Purple Cap standings. He is level with Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna on wickets, but edges ahead thanks to a better economy rate.

Chennai Super Kings bowler Anshul Kamboj continues to lead the chart with 13 wickets. Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravi Bishnoi has climbed to fifth place with 10 wickets, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar also remains among the leading wicket-takers.

Jofra Archer and Kolkata Knight Riders’ Kartik Tyagi are also keeping the contest tight, with both bowlers on eight wickets each.

Orange Cap race grows tighter

There was no change in the top three positions in the Orange Cap standings. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen, Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli continue to occupy the first three spots.

However, Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has moved up to fourth place after his 46-run knock.

Punjab Kings batter Cooper Connolly struck a superb 87 off 46 balls to rise to sixth, while Rajasthan’s Yashasvi Jaiswal is also tied on 223 runs. Priyansh Arya further boosted the race with a blistering 93 off 37 deliveries, taking him past the 200-run mark and making the Orange Cap battle even more compelling.

As IPL 2026 progresses, both the Orange Cap and Purple Cap contests are becoming increasingly competitive, with several players still firmly in the hunt.
